Beckenhauer Construction Controller

Position Summary: The controller will direct and manage the company’s daily accounting and human resource activities.  This key position works closely with all levels of management and staff to provide meaningful insight and continuous improvement to the company’s profitability and procedures. The position requires keen business acumen, ability to facilitate complete system integration and a personal desire to continuously improve.

Detail of Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervise and assist the activities of all accounting staff (A/P, A/R, P/R)

Provides training, guidance and direction to employees to ensure work is performed in an efficient, timely and knowledgeable manner

Maintains accounting staff by recruiting, selecting and orienting

Assist with supervision and development of administrative staff

Develop policies and procedures to improve financial reporting effectiveness, timeliness and streamline processes

Responsible for month and year-end close activities including preparation of journal entries, review of budget to actual reports, reconciling general ledger accounts to detail, WIP and close job reports.

Responsible for cash flow management

Responsible for equipment inventory control procedures

Contract review and gather and interpret and provide meaningful job cost data to project managers

Foster and/or maintain good corporate relationships with external partners including: customers, vendors, banking institutions, accounting and insurance/bonding companies

Prepare multiple state and local agency reports for tax purposes

Supervises company’s human resource policies and procedures

Workers Compensation reporting

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Detail orientated.

Ability to function in a leadership and supervisory role

Prefer advanced knowledge of construction accounting

Working knowledge of Sage or other construction specific accounting software

Proficient with Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills

Excellent accounting, organizational, written and verbal communication skills

Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and handle multiple assignments

Ability to function as a team player

Must be able to maintain confidentiality

Work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as, outside clients and vendors

Flexible and Reliable

Required Experience:

Minimum seven years of progressive accounting experience

Prefer Minimum five years’ experience in construction/job cost accounting

Minimum three years of supervisory/managerial experience

CPA
