Surveyor/Chief Field Engineer

Provide technical and administrative expertise for field layout and survey operations for commercial construction projects, locating building corners, grid lines, utility's, elevations, benchmarks, site grading. Establish anchor bolt layouts in foundations and provide as-build documents. Recommend equipment, hardware and software purchases.

  • Work within construction on the measurement and monitoring of projects, as well as producing maps, plans, and charts of different features.
  • Purchase, track, and maintain survey equipment and supplies to ensure profitable completion of projects.
  • Provide field survey and layouts in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Obtain and record as built-in survey data as required to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Set control points based on benchmark’s provided by contract drawings.
  • Assists with planning, organizing, and coordinating various surveying scopes of work including special assignments as required.
  • Takes clear accurate notes and note reduction by recording survey measurements, descriptive data, drawings, and sketches.
  • Inspects work to ensure that survey work is conducted in conformance with applicable standards.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the project's contract, specifications, schedule, and budget as it relates to survey.
  • Extensive knowledge of surveying
  • Familiarity with GPS systems, machine control systems, and late model survey equipment.
  • Proficient in MicroStation, MS Excel, Terramodel, GPS, and 3D Modeling Software preferred
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must promote safety culture and awareness by practicing and enforcing safe work procedures.
  • Must be able to work under extreme weather conditions subject to extreme cold, heat, rain, snow and other inclement weather conditions.
  • Performance of required duties will require the physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time subject to uneven construction work site terrain.
  • The ability to climb, stoop , bend, crouch, crawl and be able to safely distinguish between noise/volume levels associated with construction job site is vital to a safe job site work experience.
  • Training in 3D Modeling, Machine Control Systems, and GPS Survey Technology is desired.
  • Good ability working with other team members, positive attitude.
