Assistant Controller

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the Controller in overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments, to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate transactions and resolution of issues.
  • Oversee job costing and project accounting, ensuring costs are accurately tracked, allocated, and reported.
  • Monitor cash flow and support cash management activities, including bank reconciliations and forecasting.
  • Manage fixed assets, including recording, tracking, and reporting asset activity.
  • Support the preparation of tax filings and external audits, working closely with external accountants and auditors.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 2-4 years of progressive accounting experience; construction industry experience preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and XLOOKUPs.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP and job costing principles.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
